Additional course dates may be added on demand. Courses may be subject to cancellation. Unless otherwise noted all courses will be held in our training centre. We would be happy to book a group class for you if you have the minimum amount of participants. Call for more information.

2009 COURSE SCHEDULE
Aerial Platform for Experienced Participants - $120
Upon completion of the course the participant will have a good working knowledge of the particular family of equipment they are being trained on, as it relates to:
• Hazards, precautions, operating and emergency controls, and safety devices.
• Pre-start visual inspections.
• Inspection of the work place.
• Safe operation.
• WorkSafeBC regulations relating to the operation of the Self Elevating Work Program.
The course will consist of the following:
• Classroom training on the theory & operation of the machine families. Includes the use of workbooks and video.
• Hands on operation of the particular Elevated Work Platform machine families.
• Instruction in the use of the various safety devices associated with the machine.
Evaluations are based on performance by the participant of the following:
• Daily inspection procedure
• Maintaining a log book
• Use of the emergency lowering devices
• Site inspection for hazards
• Demonstration of safe operation of the machine
• Completion of a quiz on all aspects of equipment operation and the related safety regulations.

PLEASE NOTE: This course will be taught at Leavitt Training Agency, located at 51 Leeder Street, Coquitlam, BC.
Aerial Platform for Inexperienced Participants - $220
This two-day training program is designed to meet the needs of individuals who have no experience operating an Aerial Platform. Once completed the operator will have the skills to become a proficient Aerial Platform operator.
Theory and classroom learning makes up a large majority of day one; the day also includes hands on practice with the machines. The focus will be on:
• Hazards, precautions, operating and emergency controls, and safety devices.
• Pre-start visual inspections
• Inspection of the work place
• Safe operation
• WorkSafeBC regulations relating to the operation of the Self Elevating Work Program.
Day two will be completely hands on; students will be introduced to machine functions and controls. Throughout the day, students will have the opportunity to utilize various sizes of machines. Upon completion of this two-day program, students will be comfortable with the function and operation of a Self-Propelled Aerial Platform.

PLEASE NOTE: This course will be taught at Leavitt Training Agency, located at 51 Leeder Street, Coquitlam, BC.
Aerial Platform over 80ft - $200
Pre-Requisites: Must have completed the Aerial Platform course and have a current/valid certificate and complete a minimum of 40 hours of machine experience. Leavitt Machinery recommends that participants complete Fall Arrest training prior to taking this course.
Once completed the operator will have the skills to become a proficient Aerial Platform operator at heights greater than 80ft.
Course includes:
•Extendable Axles
•Telescoping Booms
•Operating Envelope
•Limit Switches and Fail Safes
•Safe Operation Over 80ft/25m (Site specific training as required.)

Counterbalanced Forklift for Experienced Participants - $120
This training program is designed to meet the needs of the counterbalanced, sit-down, rider type lift truck operators, regardless of brand. The program addresses these issues:
• General lift truck fundamentals
• Principals of stability, balance and capacity
• The pre-operation inspection
• Safety guidelines for operating lift trucks
• Safe load handling techniques
• Fueling internal combustion powered lift trucks
• Charging/changing industrial batteries on electric powered trucks
This comprehensive program consists of the following:
• Classroom training on the theory of lift truck operation. Includes the use of workbooks and video.
• Hands on operation of the forklift.
Evaluations are based on performance by the participant of the following:
• Daily inspection procedure.
• Site inspection for hazards.
• Demonstration of safe operation of the machine.
• Completion of a quiz on all aspects of the operation of the equipment as well as the regulations relating to the safe operation of the equipment.

Occupational Health & Safety Level One First Aid - $40
Includes CPR, crisis management, wound care and more. This full day course packs in life-saving information, provides a WorkSafeBC OFA certificate and a complimentary lunch!

Performing Arts Supervisor Safety - $25
The course content covers supervisory topics including: Bill C-45 responsibilities; Due Diligence; Supervisor Awareness and responsibilities; Hazard Assessment; Inspection process; Work Procedures; Site Orientation; Worker Orientation; Contractor Orientation; Tool Box Talks; Supervisor Documentation; Discipline; Orientation; Training; Accident Investigations & when to do one; Root Causes; Recommendations and Implementation.
A series of practical exercises are included in worker orientation, accident investigation and tool box talks. Participants will be given a log book to implement recommended supervisor documentation.

Film and Television Safety Awareness - $25*
This three and a half hour general safety course is designed specifically for the film and television industry. Requirement to become an associate member with the Directors Guild of Canada. Great for beginners and veterans alike.
*This course can be taken together with Film and Television Supervisor Safety for $45. This is available only for the Sunday dates and will include lunch when taking both.

Film and Television Supervisor Safety - $25*
This three hour course is designed to meet the requirements of supervisor training for the Film and Television industry.
Course content includes: The roles and responsibilities of supervisors under WorkSafeBC OH&S in British Columbia; Techniques for effective supervision; Promotion of proactive safety culture in the industry; The test for Due Diligence; Prosecutions; Where and how to access OH&S information and resources; and Case Studies.
This course is required for DGC upgrade.
*This course can be taken together with Film and Television Safety Awareness for $45. This is available only for the Sunday dates and will include lunch when taking both.

Rough Terrain Forklift-Experienced - $120
This training program is designed to meet the needs of the rough terrain forklift operators, regardless of brand. The program addresses these issues:

3) Controls and Functions
4) Steering and Maneuverability
5) Proper Machine Inspection
6) Fueling internal combustion powered lift trucks
7) Safe Load Handling Techniques
8) Stability Principles
This comprehensive program consists of the following:
1) Classroom training on the theory of telescopic handler operation.
2) Hands on operation.
3) Performance by the participant of the following:
•Daily inspection procedure.
•Site inspection for hazards.
•Demonstration of safe operation of the machine.
•Completion of a quiz on all aspects of the operation of the equipment as well as the regulations relating to the safe operation of the equipment.
